Vision42Design Design Proposal

The aim of this proposal is to transform 42nd street into a linear pedestrian and light-rail route that draws pedestrians out from the dense and disorienting urban core of Times Square, and brings them along the entire length of 42nd street to experience the Manhattan waterfront. Utilizing the existing block structure and identity as a basis for programmatic adjacencies, each block and tram pavilion plays a crucial role in spurring economic development along the route, as the planned innovative reprogramming of the street draws individuals towards the edges.
