Little Havana Boutique Hotel

location: Miami, FL
client: Panoply Real Estate Development Corp.

The FP+a design team was tasked with the opportunity of designing an urban infill boutique hotel in the vibrant community of Little Havana, in Miami. Our design approach consisted in densifying the site with a public program frontage facing the vibrant street side, consisting of the main lobby space, restaurant-bar, followed by an outdoor courtyard which separates the private hotel units form the frontage two-story volume, typical of the architecture of the time. The colorful volumes evoques the scale of the traditional colonial architecture found in the streets of old Havana, and Old San Juan (Puerto Rico), with a contemporary look/feel and materials that speaks to the current construction techniquest and simple modernist approaches with contemporary materials. The balconies serve as a continuation of the street or the public corridor which ties both programs together.
